'Another Infrastructure (AI)' Event at North Clondalkin Library

SDCC’s IN CONTEXT Public Art Programme, which is directed by the Arts Office, continued in August with several events and workshops from the artist ensemble Drop Table. The artists have centred their community-engaged public artwork by working with North Clondalkin Library and people from the local communities in the Ronanstown, Collinstown, and Rowlagh areas.

Drop Table's seven artists are working on the theme of 'Another Infrastructure (AI)', looking at the environmental and social impact of data infrastructure. In an area with many data centres, the artist team are focussing on how to build community infrastructures of care, data, knowledge and food.

On Saturday 29 August 2026, Drop Table hosted a programme of talks, workshops, and food at North Clondalkin Library in a one-day event 'Another Infrastructure (AI): art, environment, data centres & us'.

There was fantastic engagement with the local community taking part in discussions and workshops including gaming in the LGBT+ community, crochet and poetry, and a talk on the intertwined histories of libraries, data centres, knowledge and information. The event was well attended, and the final round-table discussion of the day was attended by Mayor Cllr. Francis Timmons.

The project will continue from September with further meetings, workshops and artistic engagement with members of the local community including the Women’s Collective, the Stairlings Collective for LGBT+ teenagers, and the North Clondalkin Library Crochet Circle. Each artist is developing a project that will be presented as part of an exhibition and event at North Clondalkin Library in early 2027.
